Surah Al Furqan Ayat 20 Translation Tafseer

Para 18 - قَدْ اَفْلَحَ

سورة الفرقان

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

25.20

وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ اِلَّاۤ اِنَّهُمْ لَیَاْكُلُوْنَ الطَّعَامَ وَ یَمْشُوْنَ فِی الْاَسْوَاقِؕ-وَ جَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةًؕ-اَتَصْبِرُوْنَۚ-وَ كَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِیْرًا۠ (20)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

And We did not send, before you, from the Messengers except that they certainly ate food and walked in the markets. ˹O people!˺ And We made some of you a trial for others.[1] Will you be patient? ˹Dear Beloved Prophet,˺ your Lord is All-Seeing.

Commentary

People are tested by each other, like the poor by the rich, and vice versa. Here, in terms of the poor, in particular, poverty is a test from Allah, and so one should hold firmly onto the rope of patience. Consider the following Hadith, which will bring patience and relief. He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Look towards the one who has less than you and do not look towards the one who has more than you, for this action is closer to you not deeming the bounties of Allah as inferior.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 9
